Cooks’ questions on Burtree Puddings

We love getting out to festivals and food fairs and meeting all of you. In our time, we’ve found that there are some questions that repeatedly come up from customers so we thought putting them all into one place might be helpful.

We’ll keep adding questions as you submit them so keep an eye on this list as it might just grow.

  • How do I heat up my sticky pudding?

To heat your pudding in the oven, remove the plastic outer wrapping and place the foil container with the lid on, in a bain-marie (you want the water to come up to about half way up the side of the pudding). Pop it in the oven at 120 degrees Celsius or gas mark 1/2 for half an hour.

Microwaves vary so we recommend placing a nice portion into a microwaveable dish and heating it for approximately 30 seconds (for 700w).

Whichever way you choose to heat it, serve the pudding warm when the sauce is lovely and oozy with fresh cream or ice cream.

  • How many servings will I get from my sticky pudding?

There are many sizes to choose from so as a guide:

Small serves 2-3

Large serves 4

X-large serves 6

XX-large serves 12

  • How long will my pudding keep for?

All our puddings and sauces have a date on the packet to tell you when they should be eaten by (if you can wait that long without eating it!) but if you’d like to save them, they’ll also keep happily in the freezer for up to six months.

  • How should I serve my puddings?

You can turn your pudding out onto a serving plate or dish and we love eating them with cream – clotted for a real treat – and even ice cream. You could also make a lovely crème anglaise if you wanted.

  • Are your puddings suitable for vegetarians?

Yes, all our puddings – sticky and Christmas – and sauces are suitable for vegetarians.
